Amanda's entrepreneurial story and how she knew she needed a change.
Can you guess where Amanda used to work?
If you guessed as a corporate pastry chef, congratulations, you're correct.
She managed five different restaurants and at the time, and thought it was her dream job. But there came a time where she was working 16 hour days for three months straight. At that point, she was burnt out and ready for a change.
When she left that job, she knew she needed a different industry because she couldn't go through another burnout...so she opened a dog care business. After that, she got tired of taking care of dogs and decided to step into network marketing.
The thing she didn't like in network marketing was showing up as a cookie-cutter version of everyone else. Her personality was different from all the others and she wanted to showcase that.
Long and behold... She found the coaching industry and started investing in other coaches. She launched a brand called Pastry Chef but it ended up flopping because it wasn't what she or her audience wanted.
Once she showed up as her authentic self, she was able to see change. She stepped into the entrepreneurial space in 2019, launched a brand with a Facebook group, and within 11 MONTHS, it was a multi-six-figure business.
Talk about a quick turnaround, am I right?
Amanda's journey to success and how she realized her worth through failure.
By taking the wrong steps, Amanda found the right ones.
Remember, you can't get to where you’re supposed to be without challenges.
She could have looked at those years of her life as a failure but instead, she chose not to. It was a learning experience and without it, she wouldn't be where she is today. She had to take ALL those missteps to get to success.
A lot of people think success leads to success but in reality, failure leads to success!
She had to go through it, fall on her face, get yelled at by higher-up people in order to do a complete 180.
Amanda could have easily gone back to corporate as a safety net but she wanted MORE. She knew she was worth more and the entrepreneurial side of her proved that as true.
Does Amanda still fail? Every. Single. Day.
She believes failure is KEY to running a successful business and if you're not failing, you're not taking enough risks, you're not expanding enough, you're not growing enough, and you're not getting uncomfortable enough.
There are still launches she does today that don’t hit and that’s okay. She looks at that failure as a gift from God and one of the most beautiful lessons.
Once you’ve reached that point where people start paying attention to you, you’re able to show up as the best version of yourself and be successful on multiple platforms.
How Amanda knew it was time to get help on her books.
Truth? Amanda was TERRIFIED.
She was scared to have someone come in and look at her money but she knew she needed it because she didn’t have accurate information. She was using excel for her taxes and basically sat there not knowing what she was grossing in her business.
The idea of having someone come in and look at her money seemed so personal to her. She didn't know a bookkeeper was someone she needed but once she got into contact with me, she wished she did it sooner!
When you get a bookkeeper, it's not so that you look at your sales and business differently. It's so you’re aware of your numbers and you know where you're at.
When I started giving Amanda her P&L statements, that's when her business got bigger and bigger, which ultimately made her more comfortable.
So many people are scared of numbers but really they just provide you with more information and more stability.
Who wouldn't want that?
Being Amanda’s bookkeeper has allowed her to focus where she needs to focus and bring her attention to sales.
When looking back at her corporate burnout, there is a structure in corporate America that needs to be in coaching businesses. Now that she knows her numbers, she feels like a legit CEO, which helped her embody that mentality and run her business like a boss.
