In this episode of Profits + Prosecco Podcast, I am joined by Arielle Gelosi, who is here today to talk about her experience going through Booked Out Bookkeeper. I thought it would be great to have her come on and share her story, how she joined, and what hesitations she had before working through this program. Arielle is a former BOB student who previously worked in Big Four accounting. She left her accounting role to grow her bookkeeping business full-time. Since then, she has shifted gears but her bookkeeping business supports her new venture.

But before we dive right in, welcome to the Profits + Prosecco Podcast! I’m your host, Katie Ferro, CPA, reformed rule follower, creator of Booked Out Bookkeeper, mom to 3 little ones, and Kajabi enthusiast.

This podcast is for entrepreneurs who desire to change their life through their profitable business, and for bookkeepers and accountants who want to escape the 9-5 and start a simple scalable bookkeeping business like I did.

Bookkeeping increases profits and profits change lives. So pop some bubbles and let me show you how!

In this episode, you'll learn everything you need to know about Booked Out Bookkeeper from a BOB student herself. For even more juicy details, listen to ALL of episode 26 of the Profits + Prosecco Podcast on your fave streaming platform.

What life looked like for Arielle Before Booked Out Bookkeeper.

Long story short…

AWFUL

Arielle was working a corporate job but knew she already wanted to be a bookkeeper.

She was helping people out on the side with bookkeeping but she wasn't taking it too seriously because it was more of a hobby. She was more focused on surviving her nine to five hectic lifestyle.

Christmas break was approaching and she found herself working till 3AM. Yes… you read that right, 3AM!

Ironically at the time she was going through this situation, I announced I was coming out with Booked Out Bookkeeper. It was basically meant to be!

Before joining, she consulted with her husband who thought joining the program was the best decision for her. She always finds herself second-guessing herself so the talk with her husband was confirmation that she had to go after it.

The environment behind being a bookkeeper.

The clients Arielle has now are not even comparable to her bosses in corporate.

Corporate was a completely different environment. As a staff accountant, there was rarely any respect even if you did your job well and did things right.

She always had to be on call, never got additional pay, and had to check her emails on the weekends. It was not the way Arielle wanted to live…

In the corporate environment, it's purely about competition but in the bookkeeping environment, it's the complete opposite.

Now, if she gets sick and can’t work, she doesn't have to worry about calling out or dealing with somebody telling her no. Now, she'll put it on her Instagram story and her clients will LITERALLY reach out and tell her to feel better.

Talk about a quick turnaround, am I right?

In her business today, she's able to say no to certain people who she knows she wouldn't be able to work for. Arielle only wants to work with easy clients so that’s what she does because it's her choice.

Every bookkeeper has their own preference and what’s easy for one may not be easy for others.

One of the most empowering feelings for Arielle as a bookkeeper is knowing that if she needs more, it's out there, she just has to show up for it.

How Arielle was able to achieve more and the benefits that come along with being a bookkeeper.

Now that she quit corporate, joined Booked Out Bookkeeper, and built her own business, Arielle has much more time to do creative things that she's been waiting to do.

SPOILER ALERT: That’s one of the benefits of joining BOB.

Goal #1: To fill up her client roster because she still has room for more people.

Goal #2: To get into real estate investing, which she and her husband achieved. Within two weeks of coming up with this goal, she was able to get a property, resell it, and profit over $4,000.

Since Arielle has her bookkeeping business income and she's very secure, she and her husband can do a lot more random things.

As a bookkeeper, you can take your hands and time off whenever and shift elsewhere and Arielle's student testimonial is proof of that. That’s exactly how I’m able to show up for my clients in different ways whether that's coaching or promoting different offers.

You decide what YOU want.

You decide WHAT to show up for.

You decide WHO you want to work for.

Realizing this is her full-time job and why BOB can be for college students too.

Sometimes Arielle feels guilty on days she “doesn’t do much work” but then she realizes, she had three calls or she networked on Instagram and that’s enough. She’s accepted the amount of freedom she has and it's such a beautiful feeling.

She chooses when she wants to rest instead of rushing to finish her to-do list because SHE CAN!

She’s her own boss, she's a business owner, and it's nothing like corporate.

I currently have college students in my DMs asking me about Booked Out Bookkeeper. They ask all the time if they would be able to do it and my answer is ALWAYS yes.

Instead of leaving the nine to five, you can skip the nine to five.

Honestly, if I knew in my early 20s that bookkeeping was possible, I would have never spent the time I did in a cubicle.
